Weekly Notices - Week 8, Term 4

Kia Ora,

Christmas music is playing and the decorations are up, Christmas is only 20 days away which also means that our school year is just about complete.

This is the last full week of school and there are a lot of activities.

Library books are to come back to school this week if you still have some at home, please.

We are publishing a school magazine again this year, and this will be available during the last week of this term. At this stage there are only to be 100 magazines printed. It will be a great memento of 2021. Orders are being taken now with the cost for the magazine being $10.00.

Kahikateas Big Day In

Monday 6th December is our Kahikatea Big Day In. This is a fun day of celebrations as we approach the end of the year. We have a range of fun-filled activities planned. If it is raining we will still be going ahead with the day.


The children can wear mufti and will need to bring in their computers, togs, a towel, sunhat, sunscreen and a drink bottle of water. Children are allowed to bring labeled water guns for the water fight.  NO WATER Balloons. 

Please ensure all items are named (togs, towels, water guns ect.)


We would like to have hot chips for a morning tea picnic and would appreciate a $2 koha contribution. Children will still need to bring their own lunch.


Unfortunately due to restrictions, we are not permitted to have the usual celebrations of learning with our parents. 


This is the advice from the Ministry:

Schools will retain their existing COVID-19 settings until the end of the 2021 calendar year, although we recommend that schools in red areas encourage mask-wearing for staff and students in year 4 and above. The COVID-19 Protection Framework settings will come into effect for all schools from 1 January 2022.

The wearing of masks for our students and staff, while we are at Red Level, is not mandated until next year. Fingers crossed Rotorua will be in Orange by then and we won’t need to wear masks. We will continue to insist every student sanitises when they enter the school gate/classroom and any other teaching space in the school. All parents coming onsite during school time (8.30am-3pm) MUST report to the School Office and wear a mask please.

TUESDAY 14TH DECEMBER: 9.15am Prizegiving for Totara students


TUESDAY 14TH DECEMBER: 12 Noon Prizegiving for Kahikatea students


TUESDAY 14TH DECEMBER: 11.15 am Prizegiving for Kakano students


THURSDAY 16TH DECEMBER: Missioning of our Year 6 students.

Week 10, Term 2 - Weekly notices

   Te Ahiahi Pai (Good Afternoon),  I hope you have been enjoying the sunshine and are feeling recharged as we head into our last week of Term 2.  We have had a busy term with a variety of events and activities. It felt fitting that last week we practiced Christian Meditation. It was led by Sister Rachel and Sister Ema from the Sisters of Compassion in Wellington.  During these sessions, children were asked to sit in  S ilence and  S tillness with a  S traight back and  S ay the word Maranatha to themselves, meaning 'Come Lord Jesus'. If you hear your child talking about the 4  S  words, this is what they are referring to.  Christian Meditation is something we are going to continue to practice as a school. It provides an opportunity to take a break and be still, in an otherwise very busy environment!  Things on this week: Wednesday   - Kapa Haka.                       - Principal's luncheon                      - Room 17 Library- please remember to bring your books to swap

Weekly Notices - Term 1 Week 11

  Welcome to Week 11 April 12th - 16th Bonjour Parents and Caregivers We are about to commence the last week of Term 1, which will be followed by the beginning of two week's school holidays. It has been a busy term with lots of important learning and everyone is feeling ready for a break to recharge the batteries. Thank you for all the support and encouragement you have given your children, and the school, over the course of Term 1. Swimming is finished until Term 4 and children will not be required to wear a hat next term when outside.  On Sunday we had many of our students being confirmed and making their First Holy Communion. This is a very exciting time for them, please keep them in your prayers. Coming up this week: - No Swimming this week.  - Cricket on Monday. - Chess Club on Wednesday and Thursday lunchtimes.  - Library and ICT Club on Thursday. - No assembly this week - Interschool Swimming Sports - Senior School Art Exhibition - Friday.
