Bonjour to all Parents and Caregivers, Firstly we would like to thank all parents and caregivers for the wonderful work they have been doing with homeschooling their children during the level 4 covid-19 lockdown. We hope you have had no problems accessing the learning on the Middle School Kahikatea site. Remember that all the information regarding home learning can be found on the class blog from either this week or last week. If you have any concerns or questions do not hesitate to contact me. We realise that many parents will be working from home and that time to help children with their learning may be limited. The learning posted on the site is intended to be independent work for the children as much as possible. Please encourage your child to do as much work as is feasible given the lockdown realities in your household bubble. You will be well aware now that we will be moving from Alert Level 4 to 3 and this takes effect from midnight on Tuesday 31st August. The school is presen

Covid Level 3 Update Saturday 28 August 2021 Kia ora Parents/Whanau The news from the Prime Minister is that we will be moving to Level 3 from 11.59 pm on Tuesday evening. We are waiting for the Ministry of Education to update Alert Level 3 guidelines which could be slightly different from the guidelines we were following at Level 3 last year. Once we have received these we will let you know our plan. In the meantime,  could you please complete a Level 3 survey for each child you have in a class at school? You will find the links to the surveys at the bottom of this newsletter. The Government has decided as part of moving to Alert Level 3 that schools may reopen for teachers and students. There are a few key details for you to be aware of. They are: 1. Distance learning for all school-aged students is still the preferred and safest option. If you are able to maintain this for your children, you should do so and keep them at home. 2. Opening schools for students is primarily for the c

Well done everyone with the creativity and enthusiasm that you are tackling online learning with.  I really enjoyed our Google Meeting this morning and everything worked smoothly for our Scavenger hunt.  It's been great to see joyful, smiley faces showing respect for those who are sharing by muting your microphone and leaving your camera on. I loved the creativity shown with good ideas for crazy socks.  Beaude's banana socks were hilarious.  (I wonder if he ate his sock for morning tea?) I have sorted out Mr. Tiedt's sock drawer and have quite a few pairs to bring to school for us to make puppets with.  Here is a link if you want to go making something out of old socks at home.   Notices Week 4 Term 3 -  August 15, 2021  Bula Vinaka everyone. We were so blessed to have such beautiful weather for this weekend. Although windy, seeing the sun out is uplifting for our spirits. This morning at our 10am mass we had a lovely turnout of students coming to celebrate the Assumption of Mary. There was a procession shortly after mass where we walked with some parishioners around the block. It was a heartwarming experience. Last week we celebrated Mary Mackillop Day with mass and fun school activities. The children had such a great time learning about the person who established our school. Below are some photos of the afternoon tabloid sports. Our children have just started learning about how to recite a poem for our annual Kahikatea Poetry Competition. Please encourage your child to learn their poem by memory. Classroom competitions start in week 5. We will be looking for, expression in our students' voices, the use of gestures/ actions as they read, and trying to ga
