Weekly notices, Term 4, Week 1

Welcome back to Term 4 all parents, caregivers and children. We hope that children had a refreshing break and you are enjoying the nice Spring weather (on most days). It is going to be a very busy term with a lot of things happening, including the St Mary's RE Review in Week One. We will have special visitors checking out our lovely Catholic School on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Covid-19

As you are no doubt aware NZ is in the midst of a Covid-19 Delta variant outbreak. St Mary's will continue to operate under Level 2 restrictions. We are continuing to ask parents not to enter the school except for essential matters. If you do need to come in you must wear a mask and sign in at the school office (or use the NZ covid tracer app). We will need to continue to use basic hygiene measures such as handwashing, use of sanitiser, cough and sneeze etiquette and regularly cleaning and disinfecting high touch surfaces. We will continue to make sure everyone sanitises or wash hands as they enter inside spaces. Please help us by encouraging children to use these practices at home and at school.

THE MONTH OF THE ROSARY

This month is the month of the Rosary and we would normally, as a school, come together to pray. We will be doing things a bit differently due to Level 2 covid-19 protocols so most activities will happen within classes or teams.

Early Finish - Notice from Mr Macmillan

Tuesday 2nd November at 2.30pm, our staff, along with teachers from St Michael’s Rotorua, St Mary’s Putararu and Bishop Edward Gaines in Tokoroa are involved in Titiro Whakamuri kia haere whakamua Professional Development. We will need to finish school at 2.15pm on that Tuesday so I ask that you pick your child up at 2.15pm. If you require after school care you can ring Maryanne Roling from Glenholme Afterschool Care. Mary Anne’s contact number is: 347 0709 or 0211 215599

WORKING BEE - Notice from Mr Macmillan

We intend to have a working bee on the third Saturday after the holidays, October 30th. There are a number of jobs that need to be done. I really appreciate the support we get from you, so thank you in anticipation. Children are welcome and we will have a BBQ lunch.

Swimming Term 4

The pool is in perfect condition for swimming. Thanks to Richard for preparing the pool. The water temperature is around 30 degrees, so it is warm. The pool is a great facility and we expect that all children will have their swimming togs with them when our class is timetabled for swimming. Room 16 and 17 will be swimming every day on weeks 2, 5,6 and 8.

SUMMER UNIFORM

Summer Uniform is to be worn from Monday. Please make sure children are not wearing part summer, part winter uniform.

Lots of parents have been in to sort out summer uniforms. Students are to start Term 4 in full summer uniform. Our Uniform Shop is open Mondays (8.30-9.00am), Wednesdays (2.30-3.00pm) & Fridays (8.30-9.00am) during term time. The girls’ summer dresses are currently only available from our school uniform shop. Please don’t forget children need to wear the school sun hats in term 4.

We also sell school uniforms via our school website. You can order and pay online and pick up your uniform from the school reception after you have been notified by email that the uniform is ready to pick up. Hopefully, this will be easier for those parents who find it difficult to get to our uniform shop.

Library - Room 17's library day is still on Wednesdays

Looking forward to another busy term.
